9-5 has never been the same

I don’t follow celebrities the way some people do, but Dolly Parton was a good one. She could have done so many things with her money, yet she chose to help people, promote reading and literacy, and generally be a force for good in the world. Today she died, and I cried. She was only 80, which is young these days. I don’t think I’ve ever worked a job that was a literal 9-5 shift, but regardless of the clock in/out time stamps I think most of us have worked the proverbial 9-5, and if you’re not a straight white man of privilege you know the Man is out to get you. May we channel the Moclan women from the Orville and use 9-5 as our rallying cry to bring about a better world, follow Dolly’s path and join together for some positive change when we so desperately need it these days.
